WHAT IS PILATES?

Regardless of age, ability or fitness level, Pilates is beneficial to everyone.

"The Pilates Method of Body Conditioning develops the body uniformly, corrects posture, restores vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit." - Joseph Pilates

Pilates is a holistic exercise system designed to restore the body to balance. It improves your strength, flexibility, mobility, health and sense of wellbeing, setting it apart from any other forms of exercise.

Suitable for all ages and abilities, Pilates is effective because it considers structural imbalances in the body, which can create on-going pain and difficulty with movement. It creates lengthened and strengthened muscles, which in turn, improve your posture and overall fitness.

Pilates incorporates both floor work and equipment such as a Reformer and Cadillac and the gentle movement makes it safe for those with health concerns, such as back ache, as well as complementing other sporting activities.

Osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and GPs are now recommending Pilates as one of the safest and most effective forms of exercise, particularly as a remedial technique for those suffering from back problems and other injuries.
